The Nature in Abastumani and its Healing Properties

Abastumani has long been thought of as a place of healing. The clean mountain air has been said to work miracles by tuberculosis specialists, but sufferers of bronchitis, bronchial asthma, and other similar ailments will find the air has similar healing properties for them as well.

The efficacy of the hot springs in Abastumani has been well-known for centuries, as as the prominent 18th-century Georgian geographer, historian, and cartographer Vakhushti Batonishvili wrote, a city named Odzdrakhe once stood in the area and was famed for its healing hot springs.

These days, the waters are used to treat rheumatic, gynecological, dermatological, and nervous diseases, metabolic disorders, and chronic ulcers.

The Abastumani Astrophysical Observatory

One of the main attractions in Abastumani is the astrophysical observatory, which has been in use since 1932 and was the first astrophysical mountain observatory in the former Soviet Union. Here galaxies, stars, the physics of the sun, small bodies of the solar system, and the upper atmosphere of the Earth are studied. Anyone who wants can visit the observatory, since there is a small museum there and, more importantly, you can use the telescope to see the moon, Saturn, and other heavenly bodies.
