What to look for: qvevri wines, fermented in clay vessels buried underground (a tradition listed by UNESCO), deep Saperavi reds and amber wines made from white grapes such as Rkatsiteli or Kisi all make good gifts. Chacha is a strong grape spirit, often compared to grappa. If you take bottles home, wrap them in clothing and pack them in checked luggage, since liquids over 100 ml are not allowed in cabin bags.
The shop is on Tsinamdzgvrishvili Street in the Chugureti district, a few minutes on foot from Marjanishvili metro station. You can also order online on winegallery.ge, and the staff can suggest a bottle for a Georgian feast (supra) or a gift.
