Dusheti

Dusheti is a city located in the central part of Georgia, about 50 kilometers from Tbilisi. The city is surrounded by beautiful forests and meadows, making it a wonderful destination for nature lovers and those looking for a joyful vacation.

History

The history of Dusheti dates back to the early antique era, with the first recorded mention of the area in 1215. The city was once the residence of the Aragvi noble family, where important cultural and literature traditions were established.

The area is also home to an early Christian community, with a 2nd-3rd century chapel discovered near the village of Tsilkani. The Patriarchate was first established here at the end of the 5th century, marking the beginning of the Christianization of the mountains.

Dusheti is home to several interesting attractions, including the Chilashvili Fortress and the geophysics observatory, which is one of the most important scientific centers in the country. The observatory carries out studies on earth magnetism, hydrometeorology, atmosphere electricity, and other scientific fields.

Just five kilometers from Dusheti, you'll find the beautiful Bazaleti Lake, which is of volcanic origin and surrounded by mountains.

Dusheti is known for its delicious cuisine, including Pshavi's Khinkali, Kaurma, and Dambalkhacho. The area is also famous for its colorful ornamental, handknitted carpets, and unique clothing, which make great souvenirs.
